Washing your face is the secret to better and healthier skin, and it’s as easy as following a simple skincare regimen. Many people who have sensitive skin tend to wash their face with just water, but that can lead to the collection of acne, causing bacterial buildup and yeast that gets clogged in your pores that could potentially lead to dermatitis. Using a brush or even your hands with a cleanser that is right for your skin will help to prevent future breakouts and will help clean out your pores. Here are some quick and easy steps to achieve the skin just by cleansing. 

  1. Wash your face twice a day. Morning and night. Even if you just wash your face once a day, it should be at night to remove the dirt and oil from the day. Washing your face before you go to bed is critical, even if you’re not wearing makeup. Always wash your face or use a wipe after a workout to get rid of oils that can cause breakouts from sweat.  
  2. Remove your makeup. After a long day of wearing the same waterproof and sweat proof makeup, all you want to do is take it all off. A standard makeup wipe and even some cleansers won’t take your makeup off. Using an oil-based cleanser to help dissolve the layers of underlying makeup to help to further ensure you got all of the dirt off. 
  3. Divide and conquer with two washes. Unsure how to pick the best cleanser that is right for your skin type? Using a soap-free cleanser is great for all skin types and is gentle enough for people with the most sensitive of skin. Aveda’s cream cleanser and all sensitive cleanser are perfect to get you started. All you do is wet your face and in circular motions, massage the product into your skin.   4. Use warm or cool water. Many people think hot water is the best option when cleansing their skin. They feel as if they are giving themselves a steam treatment. In reality, it is actually irritating their skin and can cause severe burns. Use lukewarm or even cold water when you wash your face. Splashing some cool water on your face post work out, can help reduce redness and will make you feel nice and energized. 
  5. Consider power washing. When it comes to cleansing your skin, your hands aren’t the only option. There are multiple types of devices you can use to get a nice and deep cleanse.
